Part Time Employment Ideas

    • Get a part-time job to supplement your income.office job image by Oleg Kulakov from Fotolia.com

If you are in need of extra money to supplement your income, then consider getting a part-time job. You will want to weigh whether certain jobs are worth the time you exert by considering the hourly rate. If you can turn a skill you have into a part-time job--such as photographing, writing or consulting--then consider that as a serious part-time job enterprise. You will have to save money for taxes if you become a "freelancer" of services, but you will have the freedom to work from home and set your own hours.

    Freelance Writing

    • If you can write or have a good knowledge of grammar, then consider marketing your skills as a freelance writer. To do this, you may need a business license in some states. Check your state's rules for freelance writing or consulting. As a freelance writer, you can charge people and companies for writing marketing materials, interviewing, researching, writing donation letters (also known as direct mail) and copy editing. You can set your rates, and take on as many or as few clients as you would like.

    Artisan Enterprises

    • If you are an artist, potter or craftsperson, then consider selling your art at farmer's markets and local gift shops in your city. Using your creative gifts is an excellent way to make extra money. It also has the added benefit of enriching your life, because working on creative projects can help to calm you and help you relax. You can channel stress and emotions through art projects. Consider marketing your art online by placing it on a craft marketing website, such as Etsy.

    Photography

    • Launch a photography business. This can be a very lucrative venture. Begin by doing portraits of babies and engaged couples if you do not have a lot of experience. Once you have a portfolio of work that you can show potential clients, you can begin charging a larger amount of money for photo sessions. Set up photo shoots of newborns, children, graduating seniors, families and engaged couples. With about 10 sessions a month, you easily could make an extra $2,000 to $3,000.
